We never share your personal data with others, unless we are required by law, for example by court order or official state business, or if you have expressively agreed to it. If we require the services of third parties in order to uphold our own services, the third party will be subject to our privacy policy, too.

Please read the following guidelines carefully in order to inform yourself on our policies concerning data-handling and protection.

A. Vocabulary

What is considered personal data?

Personal data is all data that identifies you. This data can be used to contact you in the real world or to find you therein. Considered to be personal data are, for example: Your real Name, your email-address, phone number, Address and credit card data.

What is considered user data?

User data is data that we collect from and about you. It is stored and processed by us, for example if you use our websites. User data encompasses mainly additional identification data, i.e. domain names, IP addresses, session-start and -end times, visited pages on our websites during your stay in the game.

What are IP addresses?

IP-addresses are used to identify devices connected to the internet. Every computer connected to the internet may receive a unique IP address, a unique combination of numerals, as an identification.

What are “cookies” ? 

A cookie is a small text file transmitted by our website to your browser, like many other sites do also. This file will be saved to your hard-drive and used the next time you visit our website. Usually a cookie contains the domain name of the website that generated it, an expiration date and a number usually generated at random. These cookies enable the websites to recognize former visitors faster. This will enhance your web experience. For example ad banners will be swapped so you will not get the same one twice. Cookies cannot be used to identify you. Of course you can use our websites without cookies, if you configure your browser not to accept and /or save cookies. Cookies that already exist on your hard drive may be manually deleted at any time.


B. What we do with your data

Which personal data do we collect, process and store?

We collect, process and store personal data, that you provide on your own accord (e.g. in forms or otherwise on our web pages) in electronic or other communication. This also includes data that you pass on to other users while interacting with them, for example in a chat-room, in the forum or a blog. Please consider this before you communicate via our website, because certain information or communication, e.g. forum posts, will be visible to all users.

A few examples:

If you visit our website we automatically store the domain name / IP address of the machine you are using, the current date and time and the length of your stay. In order to use our games you will have to register yourself with the servers. During this process you will have to enter certain information about your person. Among other data you will have to provide the date of your birth, your email-address and your gender. If you decide to use the premium features of the games, available to buy via one of the payment methods offered in the games themselves, we will need further information, e.g. postal address, your phone number, your account number or your credit card information.

We store your email-address, if you entered it, in order to send you for example a copy of our newsletter, containing exciting information on some of our other games. Of course you may at any time revoke your consent in written form (for example via email) without cost except the postage fees for this revocation. Furthermore with every one of our publications sent to you, you will have the opportunity to unsubscribe to any information provided by us. 

On request we will promptly inform you about all data stored by us about your person, free of charge. This information will be generally provided as electronic media, usually in form of an email.


What do we use the data for?

We only collect, store and process your personal data if we can reasonably assume it will enhance our stated business aims. In other words: We collect, store and process data in order for us to better understand your needs as a user of our products and are thereby able to provide a better, constantly improving service to you. This means for example we can use the stored information about you not only for the direct processing of the user contract between you and us including all the possibilities of usage (e. g. use of the games and/or services, taking part in chats, blogs and forums, using the customer support), but also in order to find functional errors or abuse of our websites.

Therefore we generate and store log-files and protocols that show the usage of our websites and games. These cover all kinds of actions, from movement within the games to communication between the users. Those logs enable us to find patterns in gaming and discover abusive users and fraudsters.

We can use the data stored about you for purely internal statistical purposes too, describing demographics, user interests and behaviour. Statistics are calculated using anonymous data, i.e. no personal data is used. Furthermore we can use the depersonalized and aggregated data for advertisement and market research. If and as far as we use your data for the generation of user profiles, the latter will never be shared without your expressive consent. Though we might enable a third party to contact you for advertising purposes. It is possible, as long as you do not dissent, that your data will be used to send you advertisements which correspond to your interests (as you have described them yourself as well as deductible via your actions on our website).

As far as it is necessary for billing purposes, we can forward your information for handling of payments to service providers or any third party, as necessary for the processing of your payment or in order to prevent or clear fraud. Of course we will inform you of the name of any third party.


Changing or deletion of your personal data

You can change your personal data at any time (e.g. to keep it up to date or to correct it) or delete it completely. If you would like us to change your personal data or to refrain from using it, please contact us via support@mailrugames.com. If asked, we will delete your data as soon as possible. Please bear in mind that some measures of a technical or organisational nature might have to be concluded before your expressed wish of deletion can be realized.

We expressly reserve the right to alternate this privacy policy but will always be in line with current laws for data protection. We recommend that you inform yourself about the current privacy policy on every visit to our websites. If we should like to use your personal data in a more extensive way than before we will of course inform you.
